I really enjoy your wonderdful article(s) addressing the area of Phlebotomy. Somehow, the mark was missed in the above photo the Phlebotomist
is displaying bad collection skills.

Cathy is correct. In the photo shown, if the person uses their thumb to push the tube into the holder, there is a possibility that the needle will be pushed further into the arm and through the vein. The other hand, in this case the left hand, should be used to push the tube into the adapter. The hand holding the blodd collecting apparatus should be stabilized against the arm to keep the needle from moving.

I was disapointed to see the photo in the article showing an incorrect way of holding the equipment. this can cause the needle to go further into the arm than desired.
